Here is a Schmidt Beer Lighted Sign from the Jacob Schmidt Brewing Company located in St. Paul, MN. This Schmidt Beer Lighted Sign is double sided and has an approximate size of 12″ X 20″ X 4″. It is made of a thick durable plastic shell and a metal frame; there metal frame also had D-ring hangers on the top for it to be hung from a chain. It is in good condition for it’s age except for a few rub marks on one of the graph panels and a light hairline crack in the plastic on the other side of the sign. The crack is hardly noticeable especially when the light is turned on. I would date this sign somewhere around the 1950’s to 1960’s era. This sign was also made by the Ohio Advertising Display Company located in Lima, OH.
This lighted sign is also known as a swinger sign or corner sign; it would have been hung outside the bar usually beneath the specific establishment’s sign or other larger beer or bar sign. There is actually another more common variation of this Schmidt Beer sign that is a single sided hanging “Schmidt City Club” lighted sign.
