The date is 1933, Prohibition has ended and Prosperity is flowing! It’s time for breweries to get fully operational again. At this time, packing materials have changed and the beer can is introduced. The first beer cans were flat top cans that had to be opened with a “churchkey” opener. A lot of breweries couldn’t afford to convert their bottling lines to be able to package in flat top cans so…. The cone top is introduced. Cone top beer cans can be run through an existing bottling line with very minimal modification to the bottling equipment.
From there, the beer can evolves and eventually transitions to the classic pull tab beer can. These new cans are close to the design and engineering of beer cans of today.
