Here is an early Yuengling’s Special Sign from the D. G. Yuengling & Son Brewery located in Pottsville, PA. This prohibition era sign is from between 1920 and 1933 and is in very good condition considering how old it is.
The sign was made by the S. J. Wolff & Company located in New York City, NY. This double-sided Yuengling’s Beer Sign is made of painted metal and is approximately 28″ by 20″. Signs like this one would have hung outside of a hotel or general store to advertising Yuengling’s Special to patrons.
The advertising on this sign depict’s the brewery’s logo as well as the tagline “Brewed with the Olde Time Tang!” and “Made in Pottsville, PA.”. Yuengling’s Special was a “Near Beer” Product that was brewed During Prohibition; it was less than one half percent alcohol by volume which was legal to consume at the time.
