Here is a Yuengling’s Ice Cream Sign from the Yuengling’s Dairy (formerly D.G. Yuengling & Son Brewery) located in Pottsville, PA. This Yuengling’s Sign is from the 1920’s era and is in excellent condition considering how old it is. During Prohibition, the D.G. Yuengling and Son Brewery built and opened the Yuengling’s Dairy right across the street from the brewery to help survive financially at a time when traditional beer was outlawed; they also produced “Yuengling’s Special” near-beer products too.
This sign was made by the Gillco Glass Sign Company located in Philadelphia, PA. It is approximately 14″ wide by 14″ high and is made of etched reverse-painted glass mounted in a bottom-lit chrome metal body. Signs like this one would have been displayed on the counter tops or above cash registers in diners, malt shops, and general stores to advertising Yuengling’s Ice Cream products to patrons.
