Here is a Schlitz Beer Glass Sign from the Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company located in Milwaukee, WI.  This pre-prohibition era Schlitz Beer Glass Sign is from the late 1800’s to early 1900’s era and is in excellent condition for it’s age.

This Schlitz Beer Sign is made of a curved piece of acid etched reverse-painted glass mounted on a “glue chipped glass” and mirrored glass backer. The graphics on this sign is of the trademarked Schlitz globe showing North America and South America; and a very small lettered call-out text written across North American that reads “Milwaukee”.  The text on this Schlitz sign is gilded in gold and reads “Schlitz The Beer That Made Milwaukee Famous”.

Signs like this one would have originally hung inside a tavern behind the bar or outside of on a door or on a corner post to advertise Schlitz Beer. There are two variations of this sign.  The difference being the other has a larger globe graphic on it; click here to view the other variation.

This Schlitz Sign was professionally restored by Gary Rhodes of Rhozart Signs. I am very happy with the detailed work from Gary and I’m proud to add this sign to my growing collection.
