Here is a Red Top Beer Neon Sign from the Red Top Brewing Company located in Cincinnati, OH. This Red Top Beer Neon Sign is from the 1930’s to 1940’s era and is in excellent condition considering how old it is.
This sign was made by the ArtKraft Sign Company located in New York City, NY. The ArtKraft Sign Co. was established in 1897 and is best known for creating various signage in Time Square for companies like Coca Cola, Budweiser, and the famous New Years Eve Ball among other famous advertisement signage just to name a few.
I love the art deco-style case that the neon is encased in with the curved black corners and the channels of chrome. I also love the black and white painted tin backer sign behind the neon tube with similar graphics. A sign like this would have been hung on the wall or behind the bar back to advertising Red Top Beer to patrons in bars and taverns.
There is another variation of this sign with similar neon and graphics except it reads “Ale” instead of “Beer”. I am actively looking for the Red Top Ale variation as well as a cleaner example of the Red Top Beer neon to add to my collection. Please contact me if you have either and are interested in selling.
