Here is a Reading Beer Cash Register Light I recently picked up from a friend last weekend. This light was created for the Reading Brewing Company located in Reading, PA. It would have been used as a light up advertisement sign that would be mounted directly on the top of the bar’s cash register. I have seen other register lights from other breweries before, but none that have ever had a functional clock mounted on the top in addition to the light.

The advertising that reads “The Friendly Beer for Modern People” was an advertising campaign that the Reading Brewing Company used during it’s rebrand and transition from the Old Reading Brewing Company. It was meant to give their brand a more up-beat and modern vibe. I think they accomplished this when I look at this sign.

This register light is very eye catching and very well made. It also has a small sticker on the back of the light that reads “Union Made”. This piece is made with high quality reverse painted glass, metal, acrylic, and lights with a low watt bulb.  This sign is in almost perfect condition except for a small chip in the glass in the bottom left corner and I had to replace the plug end to make it safe for use. All in all this piece cleaned up nicely after I took it apart and gave it a good inspection and cleaning. I am very happy to add this piece to my collection.

There is actually another variation to this sign that looks almost identical except it reads “Take Some Home” instead of “On Draught”.  The “Take Some Home” variation is rarer one of the two.
