Here is a Pennsylvania Forestry Howdy Sign issued from the Pennsylvania Forestry Association located in Harrisburg, PA.  This Pennsylvania Forestry Sign is from between 1959 to 1965 and is in excellent condition considering how old it is.

The sign is approximately 18″ by 24″ and is made of screen printed metal with a wooden mounting cleat on the back.  Signs like this one would have been displayed in parks and outdoor recreation area the help curb littering.

The graphics on the sign depict “Howdy Raccoon” also known as “Howdy the Good Manners Raccoon” who was the Pennsylvania Forestry version of “Smokey the Bear” and was created to spread anti-littering environmental awareness responsibilities to Pennsylvania communities.  Even the text on this sign is very eye-catching with the top reading “Stash that Trash” and the bottom reading “Howdy says Have Good Outdoors Manners”.

There are 4 different variations of this sign in metal and cardboard, all with similar graphics but different messaging. The cardboard variations have the same as this sign and display the “Stash that Trash” headline.

I am actively looking for the other variation of this sign as well as other Howdy, Smokey the Bear, or PA Forestry signs to add to my collection. Please contact me if you have either of them and are interested in selling.
