Here is an Old Reading Porter Statue from the Old Reading Brewing Company located in Reading, PA. This Old Reading Porter Statue is from the late 1930s era and is in very good condition considering how old it is.
The statue stand at about 12.5″ tall with a base of 5″ by 5″ and is made of cast plaster “chalkware” material; this statue was made by the Alexander Corporation located in Philadelphia, PA. The figure that this statue is based off of is an early representation of the Old Reading Brewery’s mascot “Old Gus”. Old Gus was portrayed as a Pennsylvania Dutch brewmaster who appeared on a lot of the brewery’s advertising efforts between 1933 to 1965. There are 3 other variations of this Old Reading Brewing Company Gus statue all with very similar features but different bases and different text.
