Here is a Old Reading Draught & Bottles Sign from the Old Reading Brewing Company located in Reading, PA. This Old Reading Draught & Bottles Sign is considered a TOC (Tin-Over-Cardboard) sign made and stamped on the back by the Permanent Sign & Display Company located in Reading, PA. I would say this Old Reading Draught and Bottles sign is from the late 1930’s to early 1940’s era and is in excellent condition for it’s age. Signs like this one would have been hung on the walls of bars and taverns to promote Old Reading Beer on draught and in bottles to patrons. The sign itself is approximately 14″ wide by 6″ high and has a brass chain hanger on the back for hanging on the wall.
Old Reading beer signs like this one are incredibly rare and sought after by collectors, very few even pop up for sale. I’ve been looking for one for a while ever since I started collecting old beer advertising and saw one in a friend’s collection. I’m very happy to have this Old Reading Draught & Bottles Sign in my collection! There is however another variation of this sign too and that variation is just as rare. That variation has the same colors but similar text that reads “Old Reading Beer Ale Porter”. Now I’m actively looking for that variation for my collection!
