Here are some Old Reading Beer Gus Tap Knobs from the Old Reading Brewing Company located in Reading, PA. These Old Reading Beer Gus Tap Knobs are from the 1940’s era and is in excellent condition for their age.
Of the 9 Gus Tap Handles pictured here, 8 of them are made of cast metal all finished in different metallic colors. The gold Gus versions are by far the most common variations while the bronze ones are a bit tougher to find. The silver ones in the back is both an unfinished one from the factory and a silver paperweight. The colored one (to the left) is made of a hand painted resin. These knobs were used behind the bar on beer taps to mark Old Reading Beer on tap.
I’ve heard there is a polished chrome version and a clear red lucite plastic variation that exists. I also know of a slightly smaller lead Gus paperweight too. I am actively looking for those to add to my collection.
