Here is a Keep Smiling with Old Reading Sign from the Old Reading Brewing Company located in Reading, PA. this Keep Smiling with Old Reading Sign is from the 1940’s era and is in fair condition for it’s age.
This sign was made by the Kirby-Coggeshall-Steinau Company located in Milwaukee, WI. The sign is approximately 18″ wide and is made of a painted wood-pulp composite material. Signs like these were very popular during the metal shortages during WWII. The graphics on this sign is is of a red ribbon wrapped around a pilsner glass full of beer. The text that reads “Keep Smiling with Old Reading” which was a common phrase the Old Reading Brewery used during the time on various other advertising items.
I do plan to have this sign restored and repainted at some point, however I would love to find a better example of it in the maintime. If you have one for sale please contact me.
