Here is a Fuhrmann & Schmidt Calendar Sign from the Fuhrmann & Schmidt Brewing Company located in Shamokin, PA.  This Fuhrmann & Schmidt Calendar Sign is from around the mid 1930’s era and is in excellent condition considering how old it is.

There aren’t any makers marking on this sign but I believe it was produced by the Permanent Sign & Display Company located in Reading, PA.  It is made of metal wrapped over a cardboard backer with a change hanger; originally there would have been a calendar pad bolted to the top section of the sign to pull calendar pages from.

One of the things that makes this calendar sign unique is the cone top beer can and bottle graphic across the bottom as well as the prominent “Today Drink F&S” text across the top and centered.  The Fuhrmann & Schmidt cone top beer can does help date this sign from somewhere around 1936 at which time the brewery was canning in cone top beer cans.

As clean as this calendar is in condition, unfortunately there are some green paint spatters toward the center of the sign.  I am actively looking to a cleaner example to add to my collection; please contact me if you have one and are interested in selling it.
