Here is a Esslingers Ale Clock from the Esslinger Brewing Company located in Philadelphia, PA. This Esslingers Ale Clock is from the 1930’s era and is in excellent condition considering how old it is.
It is made of a etched and painted milk glass, a manual operating “kick-start” electric movement, and a painted-over wrinkle-painted metal body. This clock was made by the Central Fixture Company (sister company to the Gillco Glass Sign Company and Gill Glass Company) located in Philadelphia, PA. The graphics of the little men at 12 o’clock, 3 o’clock, 6 o’clock, and 9 o’clock is the Esslinger Brewery’s mascot known as “Kingpin”; while the typography reads “Esslinger’s Ale In Bottles & Cans”.
There are actually 5 variations of this Esslinger Clock all of which with slightly different graphics on them; below are a few examples of some of the other variations.
I am actively looking for other examples to add to my collection.
