Here are a pair of Deppen Beer Corner Signs from the Deppen Brewing Company located in Reading, PA. These pre-prohibition Deppen Beer Corner Signs were made by the Donaldson Art Sign Company located in Covington, KY and are from the early 1900’s era; they are both in excellent condition for their age.
The sign to the left was used to advertise the Deppen Brewery and it’s beer as a whole while the sign to the right was used to advertise the brewery’s flagship beer known as “Old German Style Queen Quality Beer”. Signs like these would have been hung on a wooden post outside of a hotel or tavern entrance advertising Deppen Beer.
The signs are made of a wooden body with a metal riveted frame around a reverse-painted glass face. These two variations are a complete set of the kind of corner signs the brewery was advertising with at the time. Out of the two variations, the one with the bottle on it is the tougher variation to find.
They are extremely hard to find it any contain and are highly sought after by collectors. I’ve always wanted a pair of these Deppen Corner Signs ever since I started collecting breweriana. I’m very happy to have finally found a pair to add to my collection.
