Here is a Daeufers Peerless Beer Sign from the Daeufer-Lieberman Brewing Company located in Allentown, PA. This Daeufers Peerless Beer Sign is from between 1933 to 1935 and is in excellent condition considering how old it is.
This double-sided Daeufer Beer Sign is approximately 24″ by 30″ and is made of painted metal and has 2 mounting holes at the top. Signs like this one would have hung from a metal L shaped bracket outside of a tavern or distributor; these style signs are known as “Outdoor Swinger Signs”. Unfortunately there aren’t any makers markings or decals on the sign.
The brewery used the “Peerless” name in their advertising shorty after prohibition and dropped the name around 1935. The graphics on this sign display the script Daeufer’s lettering that was used on a variety of their advertising as well as the text on the that reads “Quality First” at the top and “Allentown’s Favorite” on the bottom. The brewery used these identical graphics on their coasters and beer serving trays too.
