Here is a Cold Spring Brewery Sign from the Cold Spring Brewing Company located in Lawrence, MA.  This pre-prohibition era brewery factory scene Sign dates from between 1896 to 1918 era and is in very good condition considering how old it is.

This sign was made by the Sentenne & Green Company located in New York, NY.  It is approximately 27″ by 20″ (not including the frame) and is made of lithography over metal mounted in a the original wooden frame.  The graphics on this sign depict a very detailed brewery factory scene of the Cold Spring Brewing Company which features the main brewhouse, stables, and bottling house.  There is also beautiful typography advertising acrosss the top and bottom that reads “Cold Spring Brewing Co.” and “Lager Beer, Ale, and Porter”. There is a makers mark in the lower right corner that reads Sentenne & Green Company New York.

Originally, signs like this one would have hung in taverns and saloons to promote and advertise Cold Spring Beer, Ale, and Porter Products to patrons.  These were also effective advertising tools to also showcase the sheer size and capability that the Cold Spring Brewing Company had in the area, so the graphics had to be very astonishing and dramatic.
