The New York Glass Letter Company was established in the mid 1800s by Otto Stietz located in New York City, NY. They manufactured reverse-painted glass advertising signs and lettered storefronts for various companies regional to New York City. Mr. Otto Stietz was not only the owner of the company but he was also a reverse-painted glass sign and lettering artist too. They produced advertising signs for various companies including Thurbers’ Flavoring Extracts, Hubalek Piano Company, and D. G. Yuengling and Son Brewery.
The company eventually closed sometime in the late 1800s partially due to Otto Stietz’s murder in 1889. The original office building is still standing to this day; click here to see the building exterior.
