The Central Fixture Lighting Company was established on September 23, 1920 located in Philadelphia, PA. They began as a light fixture manufacturer then eventually transitioning to manufacturing back-lit advertising signs. The sign that they produced were known as “Glow Lights” and were often made of enamel reverse-painted glass mounted in back-lit metal bodies.
Central Lighting Fixture Company was the sister company to Gillco Glass Sign Company (also known as Gill Glass) located in Philadelphia, PA. They also adopted the manufacturing practices of Gillco Glass Sign Company and produced Clocks, “Cab Lights”, and “Saucer Signs”. It was these manufacturing processes that ultimately made the products that they were producing very high quality for the time.
They produced advertising signs for various companies across the country including Exide Batteries and Petrol. Among the other companies were a vast variety of breweries like Fort Pitt, Duquesne, Esslinger, Ortliebs, National Bohemian, and Lowenbrau just to name a few.
