Recently, I was asked by the Berks History Center to give a lecture centered around the History of Brewing in Berks County. Originally the plan was to do the event around the beginning of September of 2017 but as my wife and I had out first child in August, we had to reschedule. The official date and time of the Berks Brewing & Breweriana Fest is scheduled for April 14, 2018 from 10am – 2pm held at the Historical Society building located in Reading, PA. The event will feature a lecture provided by me (Chad Campbell), breweriana display, and craft beer tasting provided by the Oakbrook Brewing Company located in Reading, PA.
The Historical Society has expressed a lot of interest in doing an exhibition of breweriana and beer cans during the event. The hope is to pull off a display similar to the Beer & Pretzel Show from back in 2007. I am currently working out the details for the exhibition and asking any of the local collectors from the area to supply a few items out of their collections to be put on display. All items will be on display at the Berks History Center for approximately two month and everything will be insured as well.
This webpage at brewaf.com/bhc will serve as the platform to display who is participating and who is bringing what. I will be coordinating the display and I’m asking my fellow breweriana brothers and sisters to participate as well as attend this awesome community event. We are looking for items from local Berks County area breweries like Old Reading, Sunshine, Deppen, Lauer, Barbey’s, Mt Penn, Stocker, Raurich & Raab, Muhlenberg, and Boyertown just to name a few. We are also interested in items from recent defunct craft breweries like Legacy, Pretzel City, Camelot, and Neversink.
